Whether in the public eye or behind the scenes, Junior League women are committed to moving society forward—challenging the status quo, disrupting convention to ensure a better future for all.Because tomorrow there will be new, unforeseen challenges.

And the women of the Junior League of Bell County will be there, unrelenting voices for action, justice and lasting, meaningful change.

HISTORY

The Junior League of Bell County has over 40 years of experience raising up Bell County through training women to be powerhouses of civic and community leadership and improving the well-being of children in our area.

The Service League of Temple was created in 1976 by the Women’s City Federation Club.  In 1985, the Service League decided to look beyond its original scope to make an even greater impact on the community and pursued affiliation with the Association of Junior Leagues International.  AJLI provides us with volunteer leadership training, organizational operations assistance and a network of nearly 300 Junior Leagues with the same mission and similar focus.  Just three years later, our local League extended its efforts to the entire Bell County community and became the Junior League of Bell County.

From 1991-2016, the Dyer Building in downtown Temple, a generous gift from Earnest Fletcher and Maxine Fletcher Weatherby, served as the Junior League of Bell County headquarters.  The Second Hand Rose Resale Shop also operated at this location. Second Hand Rose was established and run by our League from 1987 to 2014 allowing us to provide free and affordable clothing and home items to families in our community while raising funds for other League efforts.
